November 13 Vigil — Union Square Park

Either through Facebook or from hearsay, many people gathered at Union Square Park late in the evening of November 13th, as the situation in Paris remained confused and chaotic. People first gathered in silence, sang La Marseillaise a few times, and drew with chalk on the ground Jean Jullien’s Peace for Paris symbol. Candles were lit, words were written on asphalt, and a general atmosphere of solemnity reigned to absorb the unthinkable, especially after what had already occurred earlier this year.

Here’s a short video taken of the gathering.
